Synopsis
In the not-too-distant future following the sub-prime mortgage bubble, the collapse of the financial sector, and the merging of the Big 3 into the largest producer of quality shower rings, economic turmoil is widespread and jobs are few and far between. The hottest thing on the tubes is Death Race, a show that pits convicted felons and their vehicles of destruction against one another in a contest where the losers end up dead (or at least badly maimed).

El Chupacabra
This movie went to theatres and I have to say that I think it deserved the shot at the big screen unike many of the movies that find themselves washed up on the shores of the BMDB. It had above average production values, a far cry from the usual b-movie experience, and was for the most part enjoyable. While I have not seen the original movie, Death Race 2000, on which this iteration was based, it as was certainly reminiscent of The Running Man, but not quite on par. Then again, it was more enjoyable than Rollerball (2002). I guess you can chock that up to its use of motor vehicles as the agents of death rather than guys on rollerskates. Who knew?
