HAS ANYONE EVER GOT SO SMASHED ONE NIGHT AND THEN WOKE UP NAKED IN BED WITH YOUR SISTER OR BROTHER?  THIS IS ALMOST AS BAD AS THAT.  IT HAD ONE GOOD SCENE IN THE WHOLE MOVIE.  THE REST WAS CHICKS TALKING TO CHICKS.  TRUST ME THE DIALOGUE WAS UNNECESSARY.  AFTER WATCHING THE FIRST I WAS SO ANTICIPATING ANOTHER AMAZING MOVIE.  INSTEAD I GOT SOMETHING THE WRITERS OF DAWSON CREEK WOULD COME UP WITH.  I RATHER MAKE OUT WITH MY GREAT-GRANDMOTHER UNDERNEATH THE MISTLETOE THIS CHRISTMAS.  DO SEE THIS SHIT FEST

Not boredom proof

Death Proof is the complete opposite of Planet Terror, in that it wasn't what we were expecting from a Grindhouse movie. The key to enjoying Death Proof is to watch the special features first, then watch the actual movie. Then you'll be able to appreciate how perfectly casted it was and how good of a stunt woman/actress Zoe Bell is. You'll also understand what Quentin Tarantino was trying to do with Death Proof which was to make the great Australian car chase movie. As Quentin explains it, American car chases give you the view of a pedestrian watching cars chase each other past landmarks in the city. Australian car chases give you the view of the car driving in the outback. If you didn't know this going into the movie, you'd think he was trying to reinvent the "women sitting around talking about doing bad things" genre instead of the "Australian car chase" genre. Of course, the first 90% of the movie is women sitting around talking about doing bad things, so you might get that impression anyway.

If you've already rented Death Proof but by some stroke of luck haven't watched it yet and just read this review, watch the making of features first. If you only have time to watch the movie itself or the special features, just watch the special features. It was more entertaining watching Quentin Tarantino be the ultimate movie geek than the actual movie itself. If you haven't rented it, you can take a pass on this one.
