Easily the most offensive thing I've ever seen
Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan is easily the most offensive thing I've ever seen. At the same time it was hilarious and had me laughing the whole way through. Most of that probably had to do with the fact that I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
The premise is that Kazakhstani reporter Borat Sagdiyev travels to the U.S. and A. to make a documentary and educate Kazakhstan about what the greatest country in the world is like. The plan was to film the entire documentary in New York City, but after seeing Pamela Anderson on Baywatch, he takes things on the road to Hollywood. Along the way, Borat interviews people and generally makes a scene. Usually in the worst possibly way.
The genius of Borat is that you are never sure which parts have been staged, and which are real. Also, there is no line the this movie doesn't cross. If someone is sueing the producers ( which a lot of people are) over a certain part in the movie, its probably more real than staged. Its also pretty easy to see why Russia banned this film.
If you are easily offended by things like racism and anti-setism, homosexuality, or male nudity, do not see Borat. If you aren't as easily offended then definetly ee Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.

FUNNIEST MOVIE EVER!
THIS MOVIE WAS SO OFFENSIVE, REPULSIVE, RACIST, AND DEMEANING TO ALL MAN KIND. I LOVED IT! I WAS LAUGHING FROM START TO FINISH. IF THERE WERE PEOPLE HE DIDN'T MAKE FUN OF IN THIS MOVIE THEN I WANT TO KNOW WHO. HE PRETTY MUCH COVERED IT ALL.
A KAZAKHSTANIAN AND HIS FAT FRIEND COME TO AMERICA TO INTERVIEW PEOPLE AND TO PROMOTE THEIR CRAPPY ASS COUNTRY IS BASICALLY THE PLOT. A LONG THE WAY HE ENDS UP MAKING EVERYBODY THAT CROSSES HIS PATH HATE HIM. SOUNDS LIKE STEVEN SEAGAL LIFE. THERE WAS NUDITY, FIGHTING, BITING, AND GROPING. AND THAT WAS IN JUST ONE SCENE. IN CANADA THIS MOVIE WAS ONLY RATED 14A, WHICH MEANS EVERYONE OVER THE AGE OF 14 HAS SEEN TWO UNBELIEVABLE UGLY GUYS IN A SIXTY-NINE POSITION AND ONE NUTT SAC. WAY TO GO CANADIAN MOVIE REGULATORS. ALL I CAN SAY IS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THIS MOVIE THEN GO SEE IT NOW. IF YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE LOSERS THAT ALWAYS GETS OFFENSIVE OVER EVERYTHING, I DON'T GIVE A RATS ASS, SEE IT ANYWAY.

El Chupacabra
Features a 300 pound man's testicles
The movie begins in Borat's home country of Kazakhstan where he is a local reporter. From his fictional description of the country, it's not somewhere I would want to visit and that's probably why the movie is not going to get a distribution license in Russia. There's everything from Orkin, the town rapist, a make-out scene with his sister, and the yearly festival, the running of the Jews, that suggests that Borat and his fellow Kazakhs may hold some extreme and different views compared to the average American. In their free time they engage in the sport of dog-shooting and their countries top billboard song is "throw the Jew down the well".
The thing he uncovers as he travels across the U, S, and A, filming a documentary that seeks to discover what makes the states so enlightened, is the fact that many average Americans share the same views espoused by Borat and his fictional Kazakhstan citizens. Those that don't, are treated to the ultimate cultural clash and I could not believe how much leeway people gave Borat on account of mere cultural differences; he brings a plastic bag full of his own feces to the table at a fancy dinner party because he's unfamiliar with flush toilets.
He takes many scenes to the limit, disregarding social norms, to the point that you cannot believe what you are seeing. Some scenes are suspenseful as Borat does things that only a crazy person would attempt, most notably trying to kiss complete strangers on the New York subway. The majority of scenes are filmed with the belief by participants that they are actually in the presence of a backwater and unenlightened Kazakh reporter. Such guerilla comedy is what makes this movie so funny and sometimes shocking. This movie is also shocking because of the sheer amount of male nudity. When the warning says full frontal nudity they are referring to Polaroids of a proud Borat and his son's penis, a hairy Borat and the exceptionally hairy and overweight Kazakh director sent with him to the states both chasing each other naked with a rubber fist through a Realtors convention, and the same two fighting in a hotel room ending up in a 69er with "testicle satchels" clearly visible.
Not all scenes are so vulgar or outlandish and their are some lighter moments that are just plain fun. I also wouldn't call it smart political satire, but there's something appealing about humour that crosses all the lines, but lets us have a lot of fun along the way. In a way, this movie is like a politically incorrect enema that leaves you feeling strangely refreshed when you have left the theater.
Most interestingly of all, Borat is played by Sacha Baron Cohen, who was raised as a middle class Orthodox Jew in London, England, and who also plays Ali G on the television show of the same name. His major stick as a guerrilla comedian is creating outlandish persona's and then having them interact with politicians, celebrities, and everyday citizens without their knowing his characters true intentions; to act purposely stupid and inappropriate.
So, by now you should know if this movie is for you or not.

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan is easily the most offensive thing I've ever seen in a while. At the same time it was hilarious and ridculous the things that he was doing throught out the movie Borat is a Kazakhstani reporter who goes to the U.S.A. to make a documentary to help educate Kazakhstan about what the greatest country in the world is like. As soon as he lands in North America he begins by offending the people of New York. After seeing Baywatch on television he falls in love with Pamela Anderson. He then proceds to convince his producer to let him film the documentery in california and help spread the Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan across North America by offending a cowboy rodeo, learning how to talk to the bitches, running from the Jews, buying a bear to protect them from the Jews, getting drunk with some frat boys, going to a bible camp and getting into a naked fight with his naked fat producer and having the fight spill out into the hotel and eventually into a business convention. All in all if you don't mind seeing a lot of fat male nudity this movie is quite the flick.| Crap Bag's Ratings | |
