There are a lot of clichés out there that find their way into
movies. For our purposes, these clichés involve things that has become
overly familiar or commonplace such as dialogue elements, set or
costume design or style, how a movie is directed, and so on. You would
think B movies are particularly susceptible to these clichés as they
have neither the budget nor the time to introduce as much novelty or
originality as their big brother counterparts.
The
following is a list of clichés that exist in movies and are reused time
and time again for dramatic effect, to move the plot along, to create
suspense, or to pad out a production. Clichés will be added to this list as they are thought up. 1.
The Bomb Timer: This is a more global cliché and involves the hackneyed
duration left on timers when they are discovered by a character. If the
explosives are discovered by the protagonist, there is usually enough
time left to either disarm the bomb or safely escape. When an
antagonist finds an explosive device, there is usually enough time left
on the timer for them to exclaim something such as "Oh crap" or
"Ughhhhnuhghg". |
